Happy holidays!
As I mentioned on social media over Thanksgiving a few weeks ago, I am thankful for you. This year has been hard, for all of us. A lot of you know I’m a public school teacher, and teaching in a pandemic has been the hardest year of my 18 years of teaching. GEEKSOAP has taken a back seat to all of the other challenges in 2020, as you’ve probably noticed. I’m just so exhausted every single night when I get home, I’ve not had the energy (or time) to focus on my small business, and that’s ok. I’m still here and have still been handling orders, just not on my usual scale and I’m okay with that. I couldn’t handle the volume right now anyway, so things have scaled back quite a bit to compensate.
Every year for the past TEN YEARS I’ve temporarily closed the shop around mid-December to finish up any outstanding orders before Christmas, AND then so I can spend the holidays focusing on my family after the non-stop whirlwind of the holiday order rush.
This year more than ever, I need that break. The shop will be closed per usual through the holidays so I can rest and recuperate. I’ll start shutting the shop down on Friday, December 11th and stay closed through the new year, re-opening on Monday, January 4th, 2021.
If you have an outstanding order that is being processed right now, don’t worry – this just means no further orders are able to be placed until January 4, 2021 when the shop re-opens. Current outstanding orders are still being processed and my goal is to get them all out by the end of the week, with the latest ship date being Friday, December 18. This year I can’t guarantee anything in time for Christmas, however, I’m doing everything I can do get your orders out as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality. Please remember that I’m a full time middle school teacher (during a pandemic!) and mama, and GEEKSOAP is my second job in the evenings and on weekends.
This season, I continue to be grateful. Grateful for all of my customers, family, and friends who have supported me for NEARLY ELEVEN YEARS of GEEKSOAP success, grateful for your patience and understanding during the busiest season of the year AND during a pandemic, and grateful for the kindness and cheer you spread when you include sweet notes on your order or send me a follow up email when your geektastic soap gifts arrive to share how much you love them. You make GEEKSOAP. You are the reason I continue to pour love and heart into every bar I make, even in the craziness that is 2020! My heart swells with gratitude for being able to continue doing what I love and having GEEKSOAP as my creative outlet, all because of YOU. Thank you!
